Is it a happy God or a vengeful God that brings about Armageddon before the weekend? Courtney and I are supposed to be hosting a wine-tasting and breast cancer fund raiser on the 14th. Oh well...
Seriously - what does this clown tell his followers on the 13th, when everything is fine? We could probably ask them, seeing as how he's predicted the end of the world before. It's possible that he was inspired by a USA network airing of War Games.
It now costs more than $40.00 to fill up my tiny Saturn gas tank. Yay.

ba, ba, ba, ba-ba ba! The Bo Diddley beat. RIP Elias McDaniel.
It's too late to construct a proper homage to this great man. All I can say is that rock n' roll would never have existed in the context that we all know it, if not for Bo Diddley. Call it what you will, a blues/rock mix, "shave and a haircut," - it's the "Bo Diddley beat." I was lucky enough to catch a KFAI tribute to the late legend tonight as I was driving into Saint Paul from work. The DJ wasreferring to his music as "the science of the square guitar."
Here's a taste of his science, and some songs in which you can clearly hear his influence. Without these...
We wouldn't be able to hear these:
Well, before I get to randomly blogging about useless stuff that few people care about, some filler:
This video makes one wonder what the goose did before this guy started to record...
Oh, here's a link to a funny little site, http://www.thingsyoungerthanmccain.com. It drives home a simple point: John McCain is old.
Thanks for putting up with the delay. Music and photos coming soon...
It has been more than a month since I last posted? This will not stand. I'm almost done transferring pictures and files from my old PC to the new one, so I should start posting regularly again by the weekend. On a side note - I do not enjoy shopping for furniture. Courtney and I are almost completely settled into the new place, but we (I) still have a ways to go... Anyway, don't you love the guy next to Obama in this picture? It looks as though he waited for the democratic nominee (you read that right, Hilary fans) to drink first, and then went for it. By the way, Barack is drinking Pabst in this photo. Talk at you soon...
I'm in the process of moving to another place (with a new PC!,) so it may be a while before I resume regular posting. Until then, here's a very interesting piece of audio from a great President. It's hard to imagine living during that time, and listening to the fireside chats - waiting to hear how the world may take shape.
Old articles I will miss reading: 1 2
Actually, Favre's nightmares in the Metrodome ended a few years ago. As a Vikings fan, I have "hated" him for almost eighteen years. Yet, I will miss watching the man play football. He was quite possibly the greatest QB to ever play the game, although I bet fans of Joe Montanna, Johnny Unitas, Terry Bradshaw, John Elway, and Spergon Wynn (P. Manning & T. Brady down the road) may disagree. I was at the record breaking Vikings-Packers game inside of the Dome this year. It was pretty cool to witness Favre make history. However, Packer fans, now he's history (unless he comes out of retirement.) Here comes the Aaron Rodgers era. Rodgers looked good in the Cowboys game last season. Good luck.
This upcoming season may be the worst QB season in the history of the NFC North/Central. Here are, for now, the starting QBs: Kittna (INTs) for Detroit; Grossman (terrible) for Chicago; Rodgers (unproven) for Green Bay; Jackson (we'll see) for Minnesota. Yikes. Some pictures for you Green Bay fans - to help wipe away the tears.
The Roseville 4, a discount movie theater that shows "second run" movies for $2.00 ($1.00 on Tuesdays) is closing down to make space for a renovated Rainbow Foods next door. It's sad news. I hadn't seen a movie at the Roseville 4 for a few months before I read the news in the Pioneer Press. Courtney and I decided to head over there on Friday night to check out Sweeny Todd before the Oscars on Sunday. Two tickets, two medium beverages, and a medium bucket of popcorn: $10.00 I think that would be around $26.00 at the newer, more sterile, stadium joints. Times have been tougher for the discount movie chains with larger TVs, DVDs, and On Demand content. I love going to the movies - I plop down a decent amount of money for them every year. I'm going to miss having a place close to home, where I can check out a flick that I didn't have a chance to see when it first opened, for less than the price of a rental. I think that I'm going to check out Michael Clayton tomorrow night, for a buck, and shed a tear for a venue that I have enjoyed for about twenty years.
Since I'm on the subject of movies, did anybody see Ryan Seacrest squirm last night when Gary Busey stopped by?
Here's some blues for Busey.
